Ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline day Manchester United fans have lashed out at the club after an admittedly quite shocking transfer update.
United’s summer signings so far include Brazilian midfielder Fred, young Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot and third choice goalkeeper Lee Grant.
As far as summer recruitment goes United’s business has not set the world alight and the Red Devils have struggled to mirror the ambition of rivals Liverpool during the transfer window.

BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone posted this transfer update on Twitter to many United fans dismay:
Chances rising of no @ManUtd signing. No bid for Alderweireld yet. Costs of Mina deal prohibitive. Boateng proposal was loan but that's now gone. Time for situation to change but who can they get who would make a difference – and at what cost? Jose spent £61m on Bailly/Lindelof.

Re signings. United have the money. As I understand it, they don't want to be drawn into paying big transfer and agents fees for players who are no better than the ones they have.

Whilst a club of United’s stature and standing in world football should by no means be held ransom over paying inflated transfer and agent fees, fans would still like the club to show more ambition and drive by adding star players during the transfer window.
Star signings are needed if United are to pose any significant challenge to Manchester City and Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League season.

Defence seems an obvious priority as Toby Alderweireld would undoubtedly be a top class upgrade on rather mediocre options like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones at the back, but it seems no progress has been made on a player linked repeatedly with the club throughout the summer.
Take a look below at some scathing responses to this transfer update from a number of absolutely fuming MUFC fans…
Club’s more bothered by whisky partnerships. Rotten to the core.

This window is an excellent example of United’s ownership structure being wholly, completely, unfit for purpose. Leeches for owners and a suit with little football understanding pushing transfers. For their level of income, the inaction is quite astounding.

I hope the board are ready for a serious backlash from the supporters and the manager.
And then the players performance over the season.
I hope they’re happy.
They’ve had months to do business.
Mourinho wanted a left back, where’s that?
A right winger, where’s that?

What an absolute shitshow this has been, they had months to sort out targets and a day to go they are signing no one.
Right wing, centre back, left back all needed strengthening— Arj Naik (@ArjNaik) August 8, 2018
All very well being principled but we finished a mile off city last year. You need to ask have we done enough to close the gap – my view is no, and others have strengthened therefore 2nd looks harder.

The current transfer situation at Old Trafford seems a far-cry from the days where United would flex their spending power and poach rivals best players with ease.
Jose Mourinho has certainly seemed a frustrated figure in pre-season and with news like this it’s easy to see why, even if many fans haven’t always responded well to his grumpy demeanour.
The Portuguese has shown throughout his career what he can do if he’s given access to funds to recruit top talent, but it’s just not happening for him at United.
