Real Madrid ace eyes Cristiano Ronaldo reunion, €40m+ exit for Juventus star key obstacle

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo reportedly wants to join former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus after his move to Turin earlier this summer.

The Portuguese superstar sealed his exit from the Bernabeu last month after a trophy-laden spell with the Spanish giants over the last nine years and will now embark on a new challenge in Italy.

According to Sport, via the paper edition of Tuttosport, Marcelo is now keen on the idea of linking up with his long-time teammate again, with the pair establishing an excellent rapport on the pitch in Madrid which helped lead to the impressive trophy haul in recent years.

However, it’s added that Alex Sandro joining Paris Saint-Germain in a deal potentially worth up to €50m stands in the way of Marcelo’s desire, as the Bianconeri will have to offload his compatriot first in order to create space for his arrival.

Nevertheless, the report doesn’t rule out the possibility of the pieces falling into place for Marcelo and Juve, although that is a sizeable price-tag and so it remains to be seen if PSG are willing to set the reported transfer merry-go-round into action.

The acquisition of Ronaldo coupled with the return of Leonardo Bonucci this summer shows that Juventus are arguably in a ‘win now’ mode as they look to take advantage of the window of opportunity with the pair still in their prime.

Having won seven consecutive Serie A titles, their domestic dominance looks set to continue. However, they clearly have ambitions of ending their agonising wait for success in the Champions League, and while Ronaldo’s winning pedigree will potentially help them get closer, adding Marcelo will also have a similar effect given his history and experience in the competition.
