Real Madrid set sights on €70million World Cup winner transfer to replace Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid are reportedly eager to seal the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain winger Julian Draxler to replace Cristiano Ronaldo on the left-hand side of their attack this summer.

The Spanish giants are yet to bring in a new big-name signing up front despite letting Ronaldo join Juventus earlier in this transfer window, which looks a risky approach as the new season begins.

According to Don Balon, Draxler is now emerging as a realistic target as he may be more affordable than the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, also at PSG.

The Germany international, a World Cup winner with his country back in 2014, has long looked a top talent despite some struggles for consistency in his career so far.

Madrid could be a good move for him, however, as there is clearly a big role for him to play at the club as they look to replace Ronaldo.

Marco Asensio perhaps doesn’t look up to such a big job at the moment, so one more player to provide competition in the front three seems essential for Real.

Los Blancos finished third in La Liga last season and it’ll surely take a big improvement from them to catch Barcelona this term without the goals of Ronaldo.

Draxler has been linked with Madrid in recent times, with Don Balon previously suggesting he’d likely cost around €70million, which seems pretty decent for a player of his quality and experience of winning major trophies.
