Manchester City are said to be keen on bringing in Mateo Kovacic of Chelsea to the Ethiad this summer.

That’s according to Football Insider who claim that Pep Guardiola’s side has an interest in the Croatian, following Jude Bellingham’s potential move to Real Madrid.

He’s spent five seasons with Chelsea and played 219 times in all competitions. In that time, he’s won the Champions League, Europa League and a Club World Cup with the Blues.

A recent report has claimed that City skipper Ilkay Gundogan could head to Barcelona this summer, with the Spanish club confident they can secure his signature.

Should the German midfielder part ways with the club during the next transfer window it’s possible Guardiola may turn to Kovacic to fill the void as he also has plenty of Premier League experience.

According to Football.London, Chelsea are looking to bring in a new central midfielder in the next window. This could mean that the 29-year-old is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge to open up spaces in the squad.

The Croatian international has excellent passing ability and has been praised by his former boss Thomas Tuchel in the past.

Tuchel described him as someone “you can call at 3am”, as quoted by BBC Sport.

An opportunity to play under Guardiola could be very enticing for the current Chelsea ace, there’s a real possibility it would add to his list of impressive honours if he were to make the switch.
