Brazilian stars ‘want rid of Manchester City manager’: Are the knives out for Sparky?
by stresster on November 10th, 2008Manchester City have taken the lead in every home match they have played this season, yet have ended up losing the game on three of six occasions. While two of those defeats were against Chelsea and Liverpool, Sunday’s 2-1 reverse against Spurs was harder to swallow, and the below source reckons that some players are turning on their manager.
It’s a lazy story and one that carries no quotes, so perhaps best taken with a pinch of salt, unless you’re a Sun reader who is hypnotised into believing everything that this rag writes. The red-top claims that ‘Sparky is on the brink’ at Eastlands, would that be the brink of signing some new players when the transfer window re-opens?
The £32.5m striker, Elano and Jo are said to dislike Hughes’ management style and would be happy to see him go.
A source close to the owners said last night: “Hughes has not got long. Even if he had beaten Spurs his job was in jeopardy — now losing has taken him to the edge.”
Presumably this source didn’t pay any attention to the Manchester City chairman laughing off reports that Mark Hughes was a dead man walking, and insisting that the Welshman was the man to take the club forward this season? Although City’s form is worrying, there are only a handful of teams consistently winning matches in the Premier League at the moment, and little for supporters to worry about in the long-term. Does anyone believe that Hughes only has a game or two to save his job?

A well considered posting, the British press need sorting out. How could The Sun seriously run any story without any citations at all. Morons.

after reading the headline, i was all ready to bollox this whole story, but your article has done that already
but i would ask the question as to why u decided to glorify the ridiculous story from The Sun with such a sensationalist headline?

wish it was true though. Hughes is not good enough he is clueless tactically. yesterday was the prime example, playing Fernandes, when hes nowhere near good enough. He didnt put a striker on when we were losing and going for the game, when benjani was flagging and we were pumping high balls towards robinho. For me Hughes is not good enough

mancblue - with Kompany injured/suspended, the only other holding midfield option is Hamann and he just doesn’t have the legs any more…
It shows our lack of strength and depth, rather than Hughes’s tactical ineptitude….

Spurs were in line for a beating ’til the wind-up mouse Fernandez was stupid enough to get a 2nd yellow in an astounding 26 mins. We are hamstrung by Injurys to many key personel , and a thin squad populated by new signings who have been together for a couple of months, a handful of promising kids and the leftover dregs of inherited shit dating back to Keegan. Hughes IS the man for us, he must be given time to bring his own team together. Any thing else would be sheer knee jerk reactionary stupidity. And if as reported, the Brazilians dont care for Hughes’ hard work to up fitness levels, Fuck all 3 of em, get rid, nobody is bigger than the Club. Insubordination is a cancer that shouldnt be allowed in the dressing room.
