Tottenham are set to offer Gareth Bale a massive new contract in an attempt to persuade him to stay at the club according to The Daily Mail.

The Welsh winger has been in dazzling form this year and is quickly establishing himself as one of the best players in the world.

That has caught the attention of the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are rumoured to be weighing up £50 million plus bids in the summer.

Spurs are desperate to hold on to their young sensation however, as they look to establish themselves as Champions League regulars.

That has prompted the club to offer Bale a new double-your-money five year deal worth a staggering £40 million.

The player only signed his current contract, with wages of £75,000 a week, last June but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has recognised the importance of hanging on the club’s outstanding player.

Should Bale agree the new deal, his wages will soar to around £150,000 a week, making him easily the highest paid player at the club.

But it is thought that Bale is keen to wait and see whether Tottenham secure Champions League qualification before committing to a new deal.

The player is known to be ambitious, but is seemingly happy to develop his footballing education at White Hart Lane in the short-term.
