Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Malaga’s Manuel Iturra according to talkSport.

Brendan Rodgers is thought to have been tracking the player for some time and has now reportedly agreed a deal with Iturra to join the Anfield side at the end of the current season.

The 28 year old midfielder has put in a number of impressive displays for Malaga in La Liga and the Champions League this season and that has persuaded Liverpool to clinch an early deal for the player.

Rodgers is currently in the process of rebuilding the Liverpool side and will add Iturra to his January signings of Daniel Sturridge and Brazilian midfielder Phillipe Coutinho.

Liverpool are thought to have provided Rodgers with a limited transfer kitty for the summer window but will be able to see Iturra join the club for a limited outlay as the Chilean international’s contract expires in July.

That should ensure Rodgers retains some funds for defensive reinforcements, with the Anfield side facing the imminent retirement of club legend Jamie Carragher and speculation continuing regarding the future of Slovakian midfielder Martin Skrtel.

Liverpool may be tempted to free up funds through the sale of star striker Luis Suarez, with Bayern reportedly ready to make a bid, but Rodgers is thought to be keen to hang on to the Uruguayan forward.
