Bavarians eye move for Gunners central defender.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are pondering a surprise swoop for Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The club’s soon-to-be new coach, Pep Guardiola, is understood to be a massive fan of the Gunners’ France international, and even tried to bring the player to Camp Nou in his final season in charge of the Catalan giants.

And now Guardiola is on the look-out for a new ball-playing central defender to replace the departing Belgium international Daniel van buyten at the Allianz Arena this summer, with Koscielny said to be top of the Spaniard’s wish list.

The 27-year-old defender, who would cost the German giants around about £15 million due to the fact that he is contracted to the Emirates until 2017, has enjoyed one of his most consistent campaigns in north London since arriving at the club from Ligue 1 minnows Lorient three years ago for just €1.7m.
