Brazilian International Leandro Damiao could still move to White Hart Lane even though Spurs missed out on a Champions League place according to Sky Sports.

The striker is still interested in a move to North London and could help the club push for a Champions League place next season.

An ambitious club is a big plus for Damiao and a move to the Premier League is also desirable for the Brazilian.

Damiao said, “I know of Tottenham’s interest in me but I am happy to wait until the president of my club lets me know something official,”

“I would prefer to play in a team that is in the Champions League, but the most important thing is that they share the same ambition that I have.”

Spurs have been chasing the Internacional striker for the past 18 months, although a move has so far failed to materialise.

It was thought that Spurs may struggle to sign one of their top transfer targets because of their failure to qualify for next seasons Champions League but Damiao’s comments appear to give Tottenham hope.

The Brazilian is set to line up against England in tonight’s friendly at the Maracana and while talking about his club future he gave a damning verdict of England’s World Cup chances.

The striker said, “I don’t see that there is any reason to fear England at the World Cup.”
