Flortentino Perez has said that he expects Cristano Ronaldo to sign a new contract soon following speculation that he could leave the club this summer, Sky Sports reports.

The Portuguese super star has had a troubled season at Madrid, claiming in October that he was unhappy at the club.

This sparked speculation that he could be on his way out of the club, with a return to Manchester United a possibility.

However, Madrid’s President believes that Ronaldo has no desire to leave the Spanish capital.

“I am going to be as clear as possible. My aim, Cristiano’s aim, and the aim of all Real Madrid fans is that he carries on playing here for many years to come”, said Perez.

Ronaldo is tied to a contract until 2015, so many at Madrid feel their is plenty of time for the striker to sit down and sign a new contract.

Manchester United and Paris St Germain have been rumoured to be interested in Ronaldo and the striker clearly enjoyed being back at Old Trafford when United and Madrid met in the Champions League.

If Ronaldo does sign a contract, the striker could be joined at Madrid by Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, who Madrid are interested in signing this summer.

Bale is also a reported target for Manchester United.
