Manchester United’s hopes of bringing back Cristano Ronaldo this summer have received a boast after the star took to Twitter to deny that he had signed a new contract at Real Madrid.

The Daily Mirror reports that the odds of Ronaldo making a move back to Old Trafford have been slashed as United look to persuade the player to come back to the club where he made his name.

Ronaldo said in a tweet earlier “All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false”.

This has raised the prospect of Ronaldo coming back to United with new boss David Moyes set to try and add Ronaldo to the title winning squad he has inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, Ronaldo’s plan is to let his contract run down and then move on, demanding £60 million from his new club.

The Portuguese stars contract runs out in 2015 and Madrid are desperate to tie him down to a longer contract, meaning he will be at the club during his peak years.

United aren’t the only side interested in Ronaldo, with Paris St Germain set to offer the striker whatever he wants to move to Paris.
