Baggies boss Steve Clarke is keen to reunite with his former Chelsea charge Salomon Kalou as the West Brom manager looks to strengthen his attack this summer according to the Daily Mirror.

Clarke spent time at Stamford Bridge as assistant boss during the Ivory Coast international’s spell at Stamford Bridge and sees Kalou as the ideal man to replace Romelu Lukaku who is unlikely to join West Brom for a second loan spell next term.

Salomon Kalou spent six seasons at Chelsea before leaving for Ligue 1 side Lille last summer and has proven a success at the Stade Metropole, scoring 14 goals in 28 French top tier appearances last term.

West Brom are bound to miss Lukaku, who netted 19 Premier League goals for the Hawthorns last season and Clarke is willing to fork out the necessary cash to meet Kalou’s £30k a week wage demands.

With Peter Odemwingie and Markus Rosenberg expected to move on this summer and Marc-Antoine Fortune a free agent, Steve Clarke will certainly be looking to sign a striker or two this summer.

Clarke also has his sights set on another former Chelsea player, Wigan Athletic’s Argentine forward Franco Di Santo, who is now a free agent.
