Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has denied that Arsenal, or anyone else, have been in touch over the sale of striker Gonzalo Higuain, Sky Sports reports.

The 25-year-old has been on the verge of a switch to the Emirates all summer after telling Spanish press last season that he would be leaving during the transfer window.

However, despite continued speculation claiming that he is due to complete a £23 million deal to the north London club any day now, Perez has moved to deny the story’s by saying that Madrid haven’t even received a bid for the player.

“We don’t want Higuain to leave. What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table,” he said.

Perez also chipped in again over the ongoing saga concerning Cristiano Ronaldo, who himself has been at the centre of some heavy speculation of his own concerning a return to England. However, Perez isn’t concerned about that story and feels that the Portuguese superstar will be staying put for a long time yet.

“Ronaldo wants to retire at Real Madrid, and we want him to retire here, just like Zidane and so many other great players did. You can be absolutely certain that Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid.”
