Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has denied reports that he is considering leaving the club according to Goal.com.

Richards was touted as having a bright future in the game a few seasons ago but has since been hampered by injuries and poor form.

That gave the Argentine Pablo Zabaleta the chance to come in to the team where the utility man excelled and made himself an integral part of the team under former City boss Roberto Mancini.

There were suggestions that Richards may seek to leave the club in search of first team football with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan all thought to be ready to offer the player an escape route from City.

But the club’s owners are desperate to hold on to Richards as he is one of the few players in the current City squad who has come through the club’s youth ranks.

Richards has just two years left on his contract and there were suggestions that he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal as he is keen to receive assurances that he will be playing regular first team football.

But the player has denied those suggestions, insisting he is happy at City and is keen to prove himself under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.
