Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly readying a big money move for Liverpool pair Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho with an offer of around €75m (£62m) said to be in the offing.

CaughtOffside understands that the Allianz Arena boss is keen to put his own stamp on the squad he inherited from previous boss Jupp Heynckes and Guardiola hopes that he can secure the duo in the January transfer window, a task that will perhaps be aided if Brendan Rodgers’ side fail to maintain their current Premier League form.

Guardiola has just two recognised senior strikers in his Bayern Munich squad, Croatian Mario Mandzukic and Peruvian veteran Claudio Pizarro and having allowed Mario Gomez to join Fiorentina there is certainly scope for alternative striking options and the former Barcelona boss is known to be a fan of Liverpool ace Suarez.

The Uruguayan returned to Premier League action with a bang yesterday, scoring twice against Sunderland, but there are certainly still doubts about the former Ajax man’s long term future at the club and a move to the Champions League title holders would surely tempt the 26 year old.

Liverpool have helped resurrect Philippe Coutinho’s career after the Brazilian’s topsy-turvy three year spell at Inter Milan and his recent form could well herald a return to the national team set-up, however a move to Bayern Munich would probably make such a possibility an even more plausible outcome.

Coutinho netted three and provided five assists in a dozen starts for the Merseyside club last term and has impressed this term too.

Bayern Munich have had an excellent start to their defence of both their Bundesliga and Champions League titles though it should be noted that despite the collecting of 19 points from a possible 21 the Bavarian side sit behind Borussia Dortmund in the domestic table and it’s this strong level of challenge on all fronts that will push Guardiola into making moves for players he feels will be of long term significance to his side.
