The in-form Argentinian international suffered the injury during the second half of City’s 6-3 victory over Arsenal this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.

City can’t say for sure how long the 25-year-old will be missing for, but it is certain that he will be missing for City’s clash with Liverpool on Boxing Day.

And manager Manuel Pellegrini lamented the loss of his star striker by saying: “I think he will be, at least, one month out.

“He has a calf injury. Maybe the doctor can say exactly how many weeks he will be.”

Aguero has been in top form so far this term, bagging 19 goals – 18 of which have come in his previous 16 appearances. His partnership with new signing Sergio Aguero has also been a particular highlight as the Spaniard has himself found the target on 13 occasions this season.

However, his absence will give Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic to show what he can do after suffering an injury hit campaign so far.
