Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has denied that the club have received any approaches for winger Angel Di Maria, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentine international has been widely linked with a move a way from the Santiago Bernabeu since the summer, and French giants Monaco are thought to be leading the chase to land his signature.

Di Maria’s agent, Eugenio Lopez, even went so far as to say that his player would be interested in making the switch, but hinted that Perez was stopping the deal from going through.

“He has a contract in place until 2018 and many clubs want him,” Lopez said.

“There is a presidential angle to this but I will not talk about it.”

However, Perez didn’t seem to know anything about any offer when he was quizzed on the subject.

“We have not received any offer for the sale of Angel Di Maria. This is the truth of this subject,” he said.

“These are things that do not happen but are written about.

“Nobody has told me anything about this situation, I have asked the club if someone has approached us and nobody knows anything.”

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has also recently made his desire to keep the player at the club public knowledge, but said that he may have to settle with playing less after Gareth Bale returned to full fitness.

“I haven’t spoken to Di María nor have I seen any change of attitude from him or from his team-mates,” he said.

Di Maria was criticised for his performance in the weekend’s draw with Osasuna but Ancelotti insisted that was not a problem.

“Di Maria came on for Bale against Osasuna in order to change the way we play. With Bale we played 4-4-1 & 4-3-3 with Angel,” he said.

“Di Maria didn’t play well against Osasuna but it doesn’t matter.”
