The north London club are understood to already be planning for life at White Hart Lane without their highly rated Belgium international after the defender recently dropped a huge hint that he would quit the capital at the end of the campaign should Spurs fail to qualify for the Uefa Champions League.

And as a result, with the north Londoners currently struggling to make it into the top four of the Premier League, the club are understood to already be looking a possible central-defensive targets for next season, with the name of the Valencia centre back believed to be at the top of their wish list.

However, the experienced France international, who has been with los Che now for the past five years, is currently contracted to the La Liga giants until June 2017 and with the player’s buyout clause in that deal estimated to be worth a whopping £17m, Tottenham know it will not be cheap to buy the 30-year-old.
