The 29-year-old has been tipped to move on from the French giants this summer after telling them that he wants to end his eight-year association with them and move on to a new challenge.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on him over the course of the current campaign, and he had been thought to be one of Arsene Wenger’s top transfer targets as a possible replacement for Santi Cazorla, who has made his unhappiness at the club’s lack of silverware be known publicly lately.

Valbuena has established himself as one of the best creative midfield players in Europe in recent years, and looks to have the skills and technique to slot in well into Arsenal’s system and style of play.

Liverpool had been closely linked with a move for him too, but he has apparently told sources tied with his current side that he would rather make the move to Arsenal instead.
