The Red Devils spent the majority of last summer’s transfer window trying to lure the coveted Spain international from Camp Nou to Old Trafford, with United lodging two bids valued at £25m and £30m for Fabregas, both of which were rejected out of hand by the La Liga champions, before then also submitting a third and final verbal offer worth £35m for the playmaker.

And now following recent events in Catalonia over the weekend in which Fabregas was booed by his own fans at Camp Nou as Barca overcame Athletc Bilbao 2-1, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is set to revive the club’s efforts to sign the former Arsenal captain, especially as the word they are receiving from the Fabregas camp via his close friend Robin van Persie is that he is still willing to join the Premier League giants next season.

Either way, United are said to want to conclude the majority of their transfer business before the start of the World Cup in June.
