Spurs are set to remove current boss Tim Sherwood from his position over the summer and the Italian tactician is just one of the several names being linked with taking over the reins.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has been sounded out, but Allegri, who left his post as Milan boss earlier this season, is a serious contender and is believed to be being backed by Tottenham sporting director Franco Baldini.

And according to reports in Italy Allegri has earmarked a rapid move for the 27-year-old Italian international.

Abate rose through the youth ranks at Milan and has been with the club ever since, however, he is believed to be keen on testing himself in the Premier League and would be open to a move to White Heart Lane.

Juventus are also thought to be keen on landing his signature too, though, so Allegri would need to move fast if he is to stand any chance on being reunited with him.
