By all accounts the 27 year old is unsettled at the Ligue 1 side, though this hasn’t stopped the Uruguayan scoring goals on a regular basis, and incoming Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal appears to want to lure the striker to boost his Man United attack.

Cavani is said to be unhappy about playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and boss Laurent Blanc’s insistence on using him in a wide attacking role that doesn’t best suit the former Napoli man.

One wonders how Cavani would fit into the Man United attack there is perhaps the possibility of using the powerful marksman alongside Robin Van Persie with Wayne Rooney moving into a more withdrawn role which would then presumably leave the Premier League side ready to offload Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

Man United are ready to match Cavani’s post tax wage of €9.5m (£7.7m) a year and would presumably have to pay PSG in excess of the £53m the French club paid for the player last summer to have any hope of persuading them to part with their record signing.
