Arsenal are readying an ambitious move for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller with Arsene Wenger keen to take advantage of the German international’s frosty relationship with Allianz Arena boss Pep Guardiola.

CaughtOffside understands that Wenger is keen to strengthen his attack and is readying a bid to bring in a ‘Marquee’ signing for the role and having approached the likes of AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez the Arsenal manager will look to register his interest in 24 year old World Cup star Muller.

Muller has completed six seasons in the Bayern Munich first team set-up and is a regular in Joachim Low’s national team set-up but is said to be unhappy with life at the club he has represented since the age of 11 and speculation has been rife that his former boss Louis van Gaal could be looking to lure the lanky marksman to Old Trafford.

Van Gaal handed Muller his big break during his tenure in charge of the German giants but it appears that the long serving attacker is one of a host of players who don’t get on with Guardiola and this could lead to a potential summer move.

Having won domestic and continental honours with Bayern Munich in recent seasons there could also be an argument that Muller could be keen on a fresh challenge and Wenger may elect to take advantage of the fact that three of his Arsenal stars are currently on World Cup duty alongside the star performer in a push to ‘talk-up’ the possibility of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The presence of Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker at the north London club could only aid a push to lure Muller to join Arsenal and Wenger has been handed funds to sanction an opening £40m bid to test the waters.

Muller is an adaptable attacker who can play in wide and central attacking roles and has the physical presence to make a real impact in the Premier League.

The Bavarian born Bayern Munich man has racked up 99 goals in 256 appearances for the Bundesliga title holders and has scored 21 goals in 52 national team appearances, including most recently a hat-trick against Portugal followed by his fourth goal of the 2014 World Cup finals against the United States.
