Swansea forward Michu completes his move to Serie A club Napoli.

Swansea City forward Michu has completed his departure from the Liberty Stadium, with the Swans confirming that the Spaniard has signed for Serie A club Napoli.

The 28 year-old has joined his compatriot Rafa Benitez in Naples, initially on a season-long loan deal, but one which has the option to be made permanent at the end of the campaign.

Michu was a revelation in his first season in the Premier League after arriving at Swansea from Rayo Vallecano, rising to the top of the scoring charts as the Swans enjoyed a fine season that also saw them win the League Cup.

His stock went in the same way as that of his club last season, however, as the Spaniard spent most of the campaign on the sidelines with injury as new signing Wilfried Bony took over the mantle as key centre forward.

It is still perhaps some surprise that Garry Monk has been so willing to let Michu leave, however, considering the uncertain future of his top scorer at the Liberty Stadium.

Napoli enjoyed a fine season under Rafa Benitez last term, finishing 3rd in La Liga to ensure Champions League qualification and also lifting the Copa Italia with a victory over Fiorentina.

Michu is likely to be competing for a place in the team with Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, who was the leader of the line for Benitez last season.
