Tottenham have been presented with a good chance of signing highly rated Brazilian attacking midfielder Douglas Costa from Shakhtar this season, reports the Daily Mirror.

Spurs are looking to bolster their attacking reserves and the 23-year old’s agent has sounded them out over a potential loan move for the youngster this season as he fears going back to Ukraine could kill him.

The strained political scenario in Ukraine has put the future of foreign footballers in the Ukrainian Premier League in doubt, and Costa, who has been a Shakhtar player since 2010 is considering leaving the country at least on a temporary basis, His agents are looking for potential loan moves for as many as 6 players in the squad, but it remains to be seen whether Spurs will take up the offer of signing the talented midfielder.

Costa was quoted saying recently about his fears of returning to action in the troubled country, “all run a deadly risk if we are in the region. I like the club, the people, the city, but I’m afraid. We want to stay at the club, but we must have risk-free working conditions.”
