Liverpool Player Claims To Be ‘Happiest Guy In The World’

Injury-prone out of favour left-back looks on the bright side!

Due to injury, Jose Enrique hasn’t played a competitive match for Liverpool for nearly a year, and his replacement Alberto Moreno has started life on Anfield well with a goal against Spurs, but the Spanish left-back is still feeling pretty positive!

The 29-year-old is now back in training, and is relishing the prospect of winning his place back in the side…

“Now I am training with my teammates again, I feel like the happiest guy in the world. I want to play, but I am so happy just to be back and training,” he said, reported in the Daily Mail.

“We had a friendly at Melwood recently and I looked forward to it like it was a Premier League game. Ten months without playing is a long, long time.

“I have been training every day, but games are completely different, so these types of friendlies are fantastic. I feel like a child right now, I am so happy.”

The Reds beat Wolves 1-0 thanks to an Adam Lallana goal, and Enrique managed to come through unscathed.

He prides himself on his robust physical style, and his ability to provide strong offensive support up the left flank – but his chances this term might be limited due to the options now available to boss Brendan Rodgers.

Moreno, who cost the Reds £12m during the summer, is rated very highly, and unless he picks up an injury, it seems unlikely Enrique will take the starting spot from him anytime soon.

On top of Moreno, Liverpool have Jon Flanagan returning to fitness, and loan signing Javier Manquillo, both of whom can play on the left of defence.
