Tottenham may be out of luck as their top January transfer target looks set for a new target with his current club…

West Brom are looking to tie Tottenham target Saido Berahino down to a new long term contract, reports the Mirror.

The London club have been struggling for goals from their strikers this season, and the impressive form of the English Under-21 international has led them to believe he could be the solution.

This time last year the youngster was earning just £800-per-week, but his performances last season earned him a new £12,000-per-week deal. He is now set to be offered another bumper deal by West Brom, as the Birmingham based club look to ward off interest from Tottenham and any other suitors that might come knocking.

His current deal will sees him tied to the club until 2016, but if his current form is anything to go by then he is going to be a star of the future and certainly on to hold onto.

West Brom presumably know they can’t hold onto him forever, so they will want to get the best price they possibly can for him when the time comes.
