Mourinho has emerged as a crucial part of Laporta’s bid to be re-elected at the Nou Camp, with the Special One set to be offered the head coach job if he wins.

The Portuguese tactician has made no secret of his love for the club, and though his relationship with the Catalan side has been strained due to his time in charge at arch rivals Real Madrid, but he still remains popular among a large section of the club’s fans.

Laporta is due to lay out his plans for the club in the coming days, and the timing is said to be significant with current boss Luis Enrique under considerable pressure.
