Arsenal Risk Missing Out On Sami Khedira As Bayern Munich Turn Their Attentions To Midfielder

Arsenal’s hopes of signing the midfielder have been seriously damaged by the emergence of Bayern Munich as a contender.

It’s a well known fact that Real Madrid star Sami Khedira’s contract runs out next summer, and that clubs will be able to approach him to sign a pre-contract deal in just 43 days time.

Arsenal have no excuse, therefore, if the German midfielder slips through their fingers.

It is so clear to everyone involved that Khedira would be a perfect signing for the Gunners and fans will have been praying that Arsene Wenger makes the deal happen in January.

Unfortunately, news emerging from Spain seems to indicate that matters have been taken out of the North Londoners’ hands.

Spanish paper Marca are now reporting that Bayern Munich are interested in the player, as he is one of the few Germany stars that doesn’t already play for them.

Bayern are also said to be seeking “revenge” for the transfer of Toni Kroos to Madrid, where he has continued to excel.

If Khedira does move to Bayern, he will be linking up former teammate Xabi Alonso, with whom he dovetailed so well for Los Blancos.

With Philipp Lahm out for some time with a broken ankle, boss Pep Guardiola will be desperate to add defensive midfield depth in January.

Of course there’s always the chance that Khedira could choose Arsenal over Bayern, but one gets the feeling that if the German champions do come calling, it would be very hard for the 27-year-old to resist.
