Yedlin’s fantastic World Cup with the USA caught the eye of a number of clubs, with Tottenham beating them to the punch and securing his signature.

He was allowed to remain at MLS side Seattle Sounders, with reports originally suggesting he would not arrive in the Premier League until next summer. But with Spurs struggling in the full-back department this season, the USA international could arrive in England far earlier than expected.

Mauricio Pochettino has recently seen the return to training of first choice right-back Kyle Walker, but with Eric Dier and Kyle Naughton as the England international’s deputies there is a good chance he is looking at bringing Yedlin to the club.

The 21-year-old admitted that it would take him time to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, but he certainly appears to have the attributes required to succeed in this league.

“It’s going to take me time to adjust,” he said.

“I’m not expecting to go in right away first day and start. So if I’m playing, there’s no reason to take me out of that environment.”
