Arsenal and Liverpool look to have missed out on their Ligue 1 target Andre Ayew, with the Ghanaian penning a new deal at Olympique de Marseille, according to the Express.

Ayew has been regularly tipped to make the switch to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be two of the interested parties.

With his deal set to come to an end at the close of the season, he was expected to be on the move for a pittance in January. The rumours of a Ligue 1 exit have now been put to bed however, with the 24-year-old extending his contract at Marseille.

“It’s true I have agreed a new one year deal,” Ayew said.

“The last day, Vincent (Labrune) called me and asked me to stay.”

The French born star was unlikely to be particularly high on either Arsene Wenger or Brendan Rodgers’ wish lists, but with a fee reported of around £1.5m he may have been too good to turn down. With a new deal agreed however, the interest is likely to all but dry up.
