White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the Ivory Coast international as his current attacking, Harry Kane aside, options are proving incredibly ineffective this term.

Doumbia’s salary expectations are apparently within reach but it’s understandable that the north London side would think twice about forking out such a massive sum for the powerful marksman having seen big sums forked out for Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado fail spectacularly.

It’s also worth noting that Doumbia would be ruled out for six weeks or more on African Nations Cup duty in January and February.

Doumbia has racked up 84 goals in 128 appearances for Russian Premier League side CSKA and his form in the Champions League would indicate his ability to make an impact at a higher level.
