However, the Frenchman has given some hope to the sides interested in securing his signature after admitting that after this season he will assess his situation and could be open to a move away from St Mary’s in the summer.

“January is always a delicate month to leave in,” Schneiderlin was quoted by the Mirror.

“I will finish my season with Southampton and then see what happens in the future.

“I don’t get worried about these things anymore.

“If this summer I have learned something, you can never think: I am gone, gone for good.”

The France international has been in fine form for the Saints once again this season and has played a big part in Ronald Koeman’s side sitting in fourth position in the Premier League after 20 matches currently.

This position is somewhat surprising considering the exodus the Hampshire side experienced over the summer, with manager Mauricio Pochettino leaving for Tottenham, Luke Shaw joining the Red Devils, the Gunners signing Calum Chambers and Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren all heading to Liverpool.
