With Gerrard having announced he is leaving Anfield at the end of the season, speculation about where the 34-year-old will go next has been rife.

Al Gharafa were hoping to tempt the midfielder to the Middle East with the lure of a two-year deal with wages of more than £170,000-a-week.

Yet Gerrard has rejected the offer as he has his heart set on heading to America and wants to follow in the footsteps of another former England skipper David Beckham and join LA Galaxy.

The midfield ace thinks that Los Angeles would be the ideal place to raise his family and would be in good company in the American city as former Reds star Robbie Keane already plays for the franchise.

Gerrard is regarded by many on Merseyside as the greatest player ever to take to the field for the Premier League outfit and will have been in the first team for almost 18 years when he eventually leaves this summer.
