It is no secret that Liverpool have fallen back a long way since last season, when – powered on by Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge – they finished a close second to Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

However, one shocking stat shows just how far the Reds have gone backwards…

Last season, Brendan Rodgers’ side finished with 84 points. If they were to win their remaining 17 games this term, they would only end up with 83 points.

Liverpool’s chances of taking maximum points from their last 17 games are practically zero.

They still have to travel to Aston Villa, Everton, Southampton, Swansea City, Arsenal, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion, Chelsea and Stoke City.

Meanwhile, their remaining home games are against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Man City, Burnley, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace.
