The Colombian forward has not managed to find his best form at Old Trafford since joining on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco on deadline day of the summer transfer window, and his future now looks to be in serious doubt.

Despite initial feeling that Falcao would eventually make his loan move to United permanent, it now seems unlikely that the player will extend his stay due to a poor relationship with manager van Gaal.

The Dutchman recently left the 28-year-old out of his squad altogether for a game against Southampton, and has at times started unproven youngster James Wilson ahead of the former Atletico Madrid star this season.

Mendes is unhappy that his client is not playing often enough, and says he would’ve done better at United if Sir Alex Ferguson were still in charge of the team.

“I would have liked it if Falcao was with [former Man Utd manager] Sir Alex Ferguson,” Mendes is quoted as saying.

“He is a player who needs to play 90 minutes and I don’t understand [why he isn’t].”

However, Mendes appeared to rule out the prospect of Falcao joining Real Madrid, saying: “Falcao will play for one of the seven best [teams] in the world next, but Real Madrid have Benzema.”
