Chelsea want to rival Manchester United for the signing of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos in a £40m deal this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazil international is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the world, and has long been linked with bigger clubs such as United and Barcelona.
Although Chelsea already have plenty of quality options at centre-back, Marquinhos could make a superb long-term replacement for the ageing John Terry in that position.
Both Chelsea and United have also been linked with Real Madrid youngster Raphael Varane as they seek to strengthen at the back.
