Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are looking to sign Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, who has only one year left on his contract, according to the Daily Star.
The Slovakia international has been at Anfield for seven years now, and has become a key part of the starting XI under manager Brendan Rodgers. He has made 39 appearances for the side this season, all at the heart of the Reds’ defence.
The 30-year-old only has one year left on his contract after the end of the current campaign, and isn’t set to start negotiations over a new deal until the summer.
This situation will put further pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers, who has already got issues over Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson’s deals. The Northern Irishman has also seen his team knocked out of the FA Cup and have fallen away in the race for Champions League qualification recently.
