Louis van Gaal has already snapped up PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay and is well on the way to his second summer capture and one imagines more will follow.
The Old Trafford side secured a Champions League return and as such have the carrot of participation in Europe’s showpiece trophy as well as the financial benefits from involvement to help fund big money moves in the summer transfer market.
The 24 year old moved to the Westfalenstadion in 2011 and played a key role in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side secure a domestic double in his first season at the club. In his second he was pivotal in Borussia Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final.
The German international then spent a long period of time out with a back injury but returned to full fitness last season.
