Manchester United are also supposed to be interested in the former Chelsea man, but it seems their local rivals are making the first moves towards signing him. The 24-year-old managed to score 15 goals and create another 25 for his teammates last season, bouncing back brilliantly after being sold by the Stamford Bridge outfit eighteen months ago.
This has alerted the Mancunian sides, both of whom are in need of some extra creativity in their midfields.
The Citizens failed to even challenge for a single trophy last season, with Yaya Toure’s loss of form a big part of the problem. With four fronts to compete on in the next campaign this could be key to United’s chances of success.
The Sky Blues are in the lead at the moment though, and are able to bid do much for the midfielder because of the recent relaxation in Financial Fair Play restrictions. However, they will have to fight off fellow nouveau-riche side PSG if they want to complete a deal for the Belgian.
