Florentino Perez has dropped a major hint that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer, by naming the Portuguese superstar the ‘leader’ and ‘epicentre of the club.

The forward has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United understood to be keen on the forward.

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri [via Le 10 Sport], the reigning French champions remain keen on the attacker and will continue to try to bring him to the Bernabeu. However, he indicated that Perez remained unsure about selling the world-class player.

However, according to the player’s agent Santos Marquez—via to the Metro—has indicated that Ronaldo is ‘planning to leave’ Real Madrid in the near future.

The English source reported that the representative’s comments could be taken as an indication that the 30-year-old’s time at the Bernabeu was drawing to a close, with United set to be major beneficiaries of Ronaldo’s decision to leave the Spanish capital.

However, as reported by La Sexta [via Le 10 Sport], the Red Devils my well be frustrated in their hopes of bringing their former hero back to Old Trafford.

The source note that Perez has reminded Ronaldo that he is the ‘epicentre’ of the Blancos team and the ‘leader’ of the side.

The president’s comments would appear to indicate that the ex-Old Trafford icon still has a major role to play in La Liga this season, somewhat contrary to speculation indicating that he would be a peripheral figure with Rafael Benitez planning to build his team around Gareth Bale [Independent].
