Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere set to miss start of Premier League season with ANOTHER ankle injury

Arsenal‘s Community Shield celebrations have been somewhat soured with the news that Jack Wilshere is set to miss the start of the new season with yet another ankle injury, Guardian Sport reports.

The England international was forced to miss the game against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon after picking up the knock in training and despite hopes that the midfielder would only be out for a matter of days, it’s understood that the injury is worse than first feared and the 23-year-old is unlikely to be fit for the Gunners’ opening Premier League game against West Ham United next Sunday.

It’s not the first time that Wilshere has been sidelined with this type of injury as he missed a huge chunk of last season after undergoing surgery on his left ankle following the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium and his hopes of establishing himself in Arsene Wenger’s strongest XI have been dented.

With Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin impressing in the 1-0 win over the Blues, Wilshere certainly has his work cut out in forcing his way into the team ahead of that trio upon his return to full fitness.
