Cristiano Ronaldo told teammate he’ll rejoin Man United by 2016

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo told a teammate in 2014 that he would re-sign for Manchester United within two years, the Metro reports.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford back in 2009 for what was a world record £80m fee, but has been consistently linked with a return to the club during the past two transfer windows (vis Metro).

The Metro reports that United had tried to bring the 30-year-old back to the club on two separate occasions, only for him to decide to remain in the Spanish capital.

However, in a new biography about the star, Guillem Balague claims that he told a teammate that was departing the Bernabeu in 2014 – whom the Metro believe could be Angel Di Maria – that he would be heading back to Manchester within the next two years.

“In summer 2014 he told a Real Madrid player who was about to leave Los Blancos that he saw himself at United in two years” time,’ Balague told Sky Sports.

“Cristiano Ronaldo still dreams of returning to Manchester United. The English club informed his agent in 2013 that they have enough financial power to secure his return.

“In fact, everything has been in place since his departure in case both parties decide to take that step.

“The club’s new manager at the time, David Moyes, believed that they were about to convince Ronaldo to come back that very summer.”

The news will certainly be welcome by United fans, who are still seeing their side struggle to come out of their post Alex Ferguson transitional period.
