Manchester United make approach to sign London-based wonderkid

Representatives from Manchester United are understood to have made contact with Fulham about the possibility of signing 19-year-old hotshot Moussa Dembele.

According to Get French Football News [via the Express], the Red Devils are targeting the forward and are keen to see off reported interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich to get their man.

Reports indicate that Louis van Gaal is keen for the deal to go ahead in January, perhaps suggesting that he sees Dembele as a possible solution to United’s goalscoring struggles.

The Red Devils have scored only 19 goals so far this season, less than any of the other top seven teams in the Premier League. They have a considerable nine goals fewer than leaders Leicester City, and have scored less than both title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.

Indeed, United only have two more goals than strugglers Chelsea, and high-profile additions Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have yet to truly prove they can cut it in the EPL.

Dembele’s contract ends in the summer, and United are willing to pay a fee in order to get him in January. Fulham, who risk losing him on a free, may be keen on such a deal.
