Liverpool made a surprise singing today as they rushed through a deal to bring Southampton centre-back Steven Caulker to Anfield on loan.

The reason behind Liverpool’s speediness was that they had to make sure they registered him in time for tomorrow’s big Premier League clash with Arsenal – and they did!

Caulker is widely expected to make his Reds debut against the Gunners, as a consequence of his new team’s defensive injury crisis.

Although a defender, Caulker has a decent goalscoring record. He even found the net on his one and only senior England appearance!

In fact, Caulker has already scored for Liverpool, despite not yet playing for them.

Back in October 2014, when playing for Queens Park Rangers, Caulker latched onto a Raheem Sterling pass to fire past his own goalkeeper and hand Liverpool a 3-2 win over the Hoops.
