Chelsea could be set to undercut Premier League rivals Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan by offering the German giants Ramires in a swap deal, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Despite signing a new contract earlier in the season, the Blues could be ready to offload the Brazilian after he expressed his unhappiness at the lack of playing time he has received under new manager Guus Hiddink.
However, Dortmund are said to be keen on his signature, and would be willing to give up Gundogan in some sort of part exchange deal.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had been hoping to convince him to head for Anfield, having worked with him closely during his spell in charge of the Bundesliga side.
Klopp is still looking to stamp his influence on the side he inherited from Brendan Rodgers back in October, and though it initially seemed like Liverpool would be Gundogan’s most likely destination, if Dortmund can get something from the deal then there is a good chance he would end up in West London.
