Borussia Dortmund superstar making £23m Premier League move – NOT to Liverpool

It looks like Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be the first Premier League boss to start raiding the Borussia Dortmund roster this summer, as opposed to his rival Jurgen Klopp, by completing a deal for star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are close to completing a £23 million transfer deal for Gundogan that will include a five-year contract for the German star once he arrives at the Etihad. Per the source, Gundogan is passing up interest from Barcelona, Juventus, Arsenal and even his former manager’s Liverpool side to join the Citizens.

Gundogan’s agent reportedly met with Man City sporting director Txiki Begiristain in Amsterdam prior to an official meeting between Begiristain and Guardiola recently.

Various injuries have hampered Gundogan since his breakout 2012-13 campaign that culminated in a Champions League Final berth – and Dortmund appear poised to cash in while he still has value.

Since joining Dortmund, Gundogan has 10 goals and 13 assists in 103 Bundesliga appearances.
