Leicester already planning summer reinforcements as international powerhouse is lined up

According to The Sun, Leicester City are considering an eye-catching move to bring Portugal international William Carvalho to the King Power Stadium.

The midfield powerhouse is a name that has long been associated with a move to the Premier League, but few could have forecast that the Foxes would be one of the teams keen on bringing the Sporting Lisbon man to England.

However, following their remarkable campaign in the Premier League—and the promise of the Champions League next term—Claudio Ranieri’s side find themselves operating in a different context and targeting a different calibre of player.

As such, The Sun report that they are lining up a move for Carvalho, who is being considered as a potential replacement for N’Golo Kante should the 25-year-old—who moved to the East Midlands from Stade Malherbe de Caen last season—leave the King Power Stadium this summer.

24-year-old Carvalho has featured 25 times for Sporting this season in the Portugese top flight, helping them to second place in the Primeira League, where they sit two points behind leaders Benfica.

Should Carvalho move, he could have his work cut out replacing Kante, who has been a dominant presence in the heart of the field in Leicester’s miraculous campaign.
