Liverpool agree to £7.9m deal for Bundesliga ace

Arguably the most polarizing player on Liverpool‘s roster for the majority of the season was goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Despite 11 clean sheets – tied for sixth in the league – the Belgian stopper gave up nearly 50 goals this season and was responsible for numerous gaffes in key spots that cost the Reds valuable points. Though the team has expressed confidence in Mignolet, it apparently didn’t stop them from signing a rising star in Germany that could replace him next year.

According to the Daily Star, Mainz 05 goalkeeper Loris Karius has agreed to undergo a medical at Liverpool ahead of a transfer worth around £7.9 million. Per German magazine Kicker, a successful medical is all the Reds need to make the deal official.

The 22-year-old Karius recorded ten clean sheets for Mainz this year and earned Man of the Match honours for his performance in a 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Mainz 05 allowed 42 goals this season with Karius in goal and earned a spot in the Europa League after finishing sixth.
