Tottenham Hotspur beat Leicester City to prized £11m midfielder

The Spurs may not have been able to beat Leicester City on the pitch this past year, but they may be about to beat the Premier League title winners to one of the biggest transfer targets in the Premier League: Southampton defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama.

According to the Daily Mirror via Transfer Tavern, Tottenham Hotspur are all set to seal an £11 million deal for Wanyama amidst interest from other clubs. Leicester City were also believed to be in the mix for the 24-year-old Kenyan superstar.

The 24-year-old Kenyan made 35 appearances in all competitions for Southampton this past season, including 29 Premier League starts for the sixth-place finishers.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino recruited Wanyama to Southampton when he managed the Saints from 2013 to 2014.

Wanyama recorded one goal and one assist for Southampton this season. He is the captain of the Kenyan national team.
